MIF offers local artists, students, school groups and members of the public a fantastic range of creative development opportunities all year round, from six-month paid traineeships to one-off and regular events that are open to anyone and everyone.
Skills and Training
As we head towards The Factory, we’re committed to supporting the next generation of technicians, producers and arts professionals – offering internships, apprenticeships and other professional development opportunities that will help people of all backgrounds to forge careers in the creative industries. See below for the latest opportunities and read more about The Factory Academy here.
The Factory Academy’s Kickstart Training Academies are a new series of training programmes designed to introduce young people to the creative industries, gain confidence and learn new skills. They’re fully funded, with no cost to participants, and are open to anyone in Greater Manchester aged 19-24, educated below level 3 and on Universal Credit.
Managing Creative Projects
Managing Creative Projects is a special one-off project management course from The Factory Academy – and if you’re aged 19+ and currently unemployed, you can register now for a free place.
Join Us and Drop-in
Our regular online events, Artist Drop-in, Matchmakers and Lockdown Inspirations, have brought creatives together during lockdown, featuring appearances from our Artistic Director John McGrath and Creative Director Mark Ball – as well as local and international artists. Click below to book onto the latest events and see our resources for artists here.
Meet our MIF21 Fellows
MIF21 Creative Fellowships offer five Greater Manchester-based artists and creatives the unique opportunity to connect with our team, our artists and the MIF21 Festival. Each Creative Fellow will shadow the artistic team working on a major Festival show, getting an insider’s view into its creation, production and presentation.
